Preparing for Your Child’s College Education
Posted on October 31st, 2008 in Kids and Teens | No Comments »
As college costs increase, it can be intimidating to find ways to save up for your child’s education. Many parents know that they need to start saving money early, but they might not know where to start or how to start. Children are not cheap. One of the most expensive parts of raising a child is the college education.
Increasing College Costs
Although inflation in the United States has stayed relatively low, the inflation rate for college has more than doubled. Inflation for college costs averages between 3 and 7 percent each year, depending on the type of college or university.
The estimated four-year total (including tuition, room, and board) for a public university will be close to $85,000 by the year 2011, according to www.collegeboard.com. By 2016, the website estimates, the cost will be close to $115,000. The cost for a private education will be even higher.
What Parents Must Understand
There are two key things that parents must understand when saving for college educations.
1. Inform your children that paying for college is a joint responsibility. You should tell them early on how much you are able to contribute, and how much they should be prepared to contribute for their educations.
Although it would be wonderful if they can find a college that costs less or equal to what you are able to contribute, your children should be aware that they may need to take out scholarships and loans to fund the rest of their education. Your children should be prepared to take summer jobs and look for grants.
2. Get started early. Let compounding interest work for you by building principle early and let the interest accumulate. You should continue to contribute to the savings if possible, but starting early will give you a good head start.
Funding Your Student’s Education
Don’t expect to be able to rely on scholarships and grants to pay for your children’s educational loans. You will need to save some money to help pay for your child’s college education or consolidate with consolidation loans.
As you begin the process of saving for college, you need to first decide what kinds of accounts you would like to use for saving the money. There are various options available to parents and relatives.
Uniform Gift to Minors account: This account puts the savings in your child’s name. You, the parent, have no ownership rights to the account but will control the account until your child comes of age. This means that you will control the account until your child usually turns either 18 or 21, depending on your state.
Coverdell Education Savings Account (CSEA): Parents who qualify for this account – those families with gross income below $190,000 – are allowed to contribute up to $2,000 per child per year. The contribution isn’t tax deductible but the earnings are tax deferred.
State-Sponsored Prepaid tuition Plan: These plans promise that your investment in the plan will cover tuition at any public school in your state. It will not matter what the tuition is for the school when your child enrolls; the price is locked in when you make your investment.
State-Sponsored College Savings Plans: Individual states have these plans, but do not require the parent or student to be a resident of the state or attend college in the state. You can find more information about the 529 plans at www.collegesavings.org
Traditional Methods: You can save for your child’s education in a variety of accounts. These accounts can include basic savings accounts, investment opportunities, and annuities.

Can I please commission a costume from you?
Not right now, sorry – I am back in school and have cons to prepare for, so costume commissions are closed until further notice.
I can’t find the costume or item I’m looking for. What should I do?
We have over 100 costumes to choose from – including lots of new styles, and many designed exclusively by us. To assist you in finding an item, type a keyword or item number from our catalog into our search box. If you’re still unable to locate the item, please e-mail or use our convenient Live Help feature. The gorilla suits are available for pick-up anytime during normal office hours. We will also have registration events at selected locations where you can collect your suits. If you live outside of Denver, we will mail your suit to you. We have limited suits available, so register soon to secure your spot. That depends. Are you dressed as a gundam (or any other giant robo) with a 6 foot laser rifle? This question has been asked so so many times when the answer is so simple. Yes, you can work in costume.
So… What is a “Hall Costume”?
During the convention you will see people walking around in costumes. Any costume worn or displayed in public prior to the Costume Competition is a Hall Costume.During the convention you will see people walking around in costumes. What about his costume?
Pictures are worth a thousand words. therefore, check out the following photos on the official Doctor Who website of the Ninth Doctor and Tenth Doctor. We have over 100 costumes to choose from – including lots of new styles, and many designed exclusively by us.
What is a costume?
It depends on what kind of costume you want and how much you are willing to invest. Most fukus are made out of gabardine, suraline, or other suiting material. I do not use cheap cotton unless it is specifically requested by the customer. I really do not like to take requests like that, however, and I am more likely to deny your commission if presented with such a request. I will use higher-quality materials upon request, of course, at additional cost.It depends on what kind of costume you want and how much you are willing to invest. Will there be a costume contest?
Yes, and we hold it as part of the FenCon Cabaret. Our costume contest can involve more than dressing up as your favorite Timelord and/or Browncoat. You can do a skit or perform or so much more than a simple catwalk strut-spin-gone costume contest. Along with the costumes we schedule some fascinating acts plus a special musical project we call the All-Star Git-Down Filk Sing Hootenanny, now in its third exciting year.Exercise garments are worn in the classroom. Leotards, shorts and blouse, swimsuit, any clothing article that will allow you the freedom to move. Footwear is bare feet, soft shoe, soft sandals or a pair of socks. A hip scarf is helpful. These are available at the studio. Intermediate class will require a skirt and veil.

Do you put your family in your books?
Bits of them, sometimes. But mostly, as Jan Mark says: ‘Writers don’t write about people they know. They write what they know about people’. I spread the six stories out over happy and unhappy families. I admit then research did shock me. I hadn’t realised how insensitive some parents can be to children’s feelings. I hope the book’s a comfort for those in tricky situations, and an eye-opener for everyone else.
Where can I find the older, gruesome versions of the tales I have heard about?
First of all, I have an entire article on the earliest literary fairy tales: The Quest for the Earliest Fairy Tales: Searching for the Earliest Versions of European Fairy Tales with Commentary on English Translations. Please don’t expect modern day horror stories. We are still talking fairy tales and folklore here. The “gruesome” versions of the tales are not recommended for young readers, but they are not horror movies on paper either.
How do I obtain the rights to the play?
quot;HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH brings theater alive with the pounding sounds of rock ‘n’ roll and the funny sad voicing of a painful past.it is also an adult, thought-provoking musical about the quest for individuality.the kind of Rocky Horror Picture Show?style event that may inspire a rabid cult following.” –NY Times. “Sublimely trashy and surprisingly powerful.” –LA Times.
What sites are acceptable for the exchange?
Any sites with a Dark, horror, gothic, occult, or paranormal nature. Adult sites are welcome. Tastefull nudity and sex is preferred but all sites are approved on merit.
What does BBFC stand for? What do the different categories mean?
BBFC stands for British Board of Film Classification. They are an independent, non-governmental body, which censors and classifies films in the UK. The classification for a film can be found on the case of the DVD. The most common classifications of films are U, PG, 12, 15 and 18: U: Films suitable for audiences aged four years and over. They should be set within a positive moral framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror.Neither, really. Spinespur is better described as fitting into the horror genre, a genre that has been inundated with kid-friendly, plastic gaming for too long.

Teaching Children Financial Responsibility With These Simple Step
Posted on October 13th, 2008 in Kids and Teens | No Comments »
Teaching children financial responsibility is one is of the most important things you can do as a parent. Money affects most every aspect of our lives and financial irresponsibility is the cause for most divorces and credit problems in general. Here are 6 techniques to help you.
1. Be an example. When my son was just 5 years old he started making comments to me about credit card use. Naturally he had overheard his mother and I talking about some of our credit card debt and how we needed to be careful. I did not realize he even knew what we were talking about but after that when ever I would use me credit card to get gas he would comment about it.
2. Take time when your children are young. Many times you are in a hurry when you are out and about so you do not take time to answer your children’s questions. I know it can be frazzling but think a few years down the road. You will want to explain things about money to them but they may not be asking because they already know all the answers. Take the little extra time when they are small.
3. Have a budget. Our spending overtime usually evolves into a budget system since most of us have to be careful with our money. Use this as an opportunity to teach your kids that each month you have a set amount of income that comes in and therefore, you have to be careful how you spend it. This may also help your cause when you are at the store and your child is asking you to buy them everything they see.
4. Delayed gratification. When your child sets their heart on something they really want sit down with them and develop a plan for how they can earn the money. If you just give them what they want every time they have a notion your children will not learn the value of money. Teaching children to learn while they earn is a gift from you to them.
5. Shopping. As a father I do the grocery shopping sometimes and I frankly do not know how my wife does it. You have to have a degree in purchasing. Add to that whining children and well, you get the idea. What I do is I take a few children with me and I tell them to find the best price on different items. You can even get them a little hand held calculator and teach them to figure cost per ounce.
6. Stock market. Whether you know it or not you are investing in the stock market. If you have a savings or checking account then right now part of your funds are invested everyday. Get some books from the library or use the internet to start educating your children about the world markets. So many things are in the news and your children will become very money savvy.
Children can learn to be financially responsible when you as a parent start early and teach them by example. Let them be part of the solution when you are shopping and trying to make good decisions. When they want something show them how they can earn the money with your help. Do not forget the world markets as a tool for teaching your children. Discuss financial concepts. Like me you can learn a lot as well.

How to Pass a Driving Exam
Posted on October 10th, 2008 in Kids and Teens | No Comments »
In today’s fast paced world, many people want to get out and drive as soon as their local laws let them. There is much more to driving than many teenagers and young adults realize that can cost them their chances of getting their full unrestricted license. Being ready for your driving exam can be easily accomplished with some simple preparation.
Always study your driving signals, any information on driving etiquette, how to hold the steering wheel and what you need to do while driving a vehicle to stay safe in higher traffic areas. There are also many books available with tips on your first driving exam and how to keep your cool if you make a mistake.
Always practice as much as you can before taking the exam. Have another licensed driver help you learn what to do in certain situations. Areas with little traffic make practicing your driving much easier on yourself. Never just go out in high traffic and expect to not be nervous.
There are many different signs posted everywhere within a city. You may want to learn what they mean in case you come across any of them within your driving exam’s course. Research any special signs that you might see to know what they mean and what you should do at them. Using hand signals instead of the signal lights may be needed in the future so be sure to know how to perform them. It is also beneficial to know what the divider lines on the road represent.
Listening carefully to what the driving instructor tells you to do can help you make better choices when driving out in public for the first time. Knowing what to do when they ask you to turn somewhere or park in a difficult place is a must and may require additional practice.
Some common mistakes when taking a driving test are not wearing a seatbelt, doing an illegal U turn, stepping on the gasoline pedal too hard or too soft when accelerating. Make sure to always look in your side and rear view mirrors often and keep both hands on the wheel at all times. Never use a cellular phone, smoke, fidget or begin to swear during your driving test.
Closing Comments
Passing a driving test is not hard at all. Failing your driving test is not the end of the world, you can always try again at a later time.

New innovative equipments will take care of our entire problems.
Posted on October 9th, 2008 in Kids and Teens | No Comments »
Nowadays there is a high competition in the market with different types of equipments and developments. There are so many new technologies for the benefit of the people. Producers of such products certainly deserve rewards, as these products give an additional frame of appreciation of quality and product superiority. We have been observing extreme improvement with the arrival of several innovative tools. It was not easy for our elders to run the business or take care of the house and belongings very easily whereas it is quite easy for us nowadays.
She has to move out of the house in search of work and in this situation taking care of the child is not the sole responsibility of only the mother but also the father. When both the parents have to move out of the house for work, then it is quite difficult to leave the child at the nearest day care center for the whole day. The child has to be protected very well. I am a mother of one child. My toddler is only one year old. I had to resume my work back after a long leave. I was worried to where to leave my child and under whose guidance?
Buying products online have nowadays become a trend and it also saves time for many people. As I mentioned before that I had a look at the various cameras on the website, I decided to buy a CCTV camera for my office and I wanted to install them as soon as I could. I placed an order for it and then it was shipped in my house within a few days. Now I was in peace of mind that I would run my business very efficiently. It is not only that we can use the hidden camera for the safety of the business, but we can use it everywhere and anywhere.
He told me to install a nanny cam in my house to monitor the nanny. This way I could concentrate on my work as well I could be in mental peace that my child was in safe hands. He told me that nowadays shopping online is just simple. All we have to do is to have a look at the product which we are in need of and then place an order for it on the website through the internet. I was very relaxed now that my problem had been solved. I immediately placed and order for the nanny cam.
It was shipped to my house within a few days and now I could concentrate of my career too. While surfing in the internet I also came to know the various purposes of the spy cam. They can be used to monitor and control situations at various public places like in the hospitals, the workplaces, the transport locations and at many more locations. To reduce thefts in the society the government is allowing installing the cameras at various locations for the welfare of the natives.

Before you hire the nanny make sure the kids are happy with her.
Posted on October 1st, 2008 in Kids and Teens | No Comments »
When you hire a babysitter you are placing the welfare of your children in the babysitter’s hands. The kids’ safety and well being for those two to four or more hours that you are gone can be a happy experience for all-the sitter, the kids and parents. How do you know for sure? For sure you have thoroughly vetted your sitter, haven’t you? References, background checks etc. all to make sure your sitter is who he or she says they are. You cannot be too sure can you? After all we are talking about your kids. When you hire a nanny you need to make sure that she is the best person for the job. You do not, after all, just want to leave your kids with just anyone.
Also, nanny agencies can have policies and draft agreements on nanny cams that you can refer to. You have to clearly understand these policies so that you can search for other agencies should you find them unsuitable to your needs. You should not rely on the documentary personal references alone. Call the persons listed in the resume as character references. You can ask questions like work performance, duties and responsibilities, and even reaction to nanny cams. You must, however, introduce yourself and state the reason for your call.
You can even ask her about her experience with a hidden nanny cam, her position about its presence, and how she dealt with it. This way, you will know if you will have problems in this area. You have to look for a nanny who exhibits maturity and a diversity of interests, not a child lurking within a woman’s body. Since even the most high-tech hidden nanny cam can follow her on her outside activities. You also need to raise the matter of functions, duties and responsibilities you expect the applicant to fulfill if and when she is hired as your nanny.
He or she should be able to communicate well so your child can build his or her language skills. Your caregiver should respect your philosophy of child rearing and understand that you are the ultimate authority for making decisions about the care of your child. He or she also needs to guide your child’s behavior with positive reinforcement rather than physical punishment. Even if you work with a child-care agency that prescreens candidates, you should participate in the screening process. First, screen candidates over the phone to eliminate those who don’t seem right.
Listen to your gut feeling, even if you are under the gun because you need help immediately. Ask whether or not they’re available the hours you need them, their salary needs, how long they can commit to the job, what interests them about child care, what kind of work they have done in the past, and when they can start. Invite the best candidates to your home for an interview. Some parents develop a job application form to make the hiring process more formal and professional. Once you have a candidate in mind, contact at least three former employers and three personal references. Ask former employers about the candidate’s responsibilities, his or her strengths and weaknesses and the ages of the children that they have worked with.
